This project focuses on exploring tie and dye as a surface design technique through in-depth experimentation with materials and processes. Different types of fabrics were tested to study their texture, absorbency, and response to dyeing. A wide range of tying, folding, and binding methods were explored to create varied patterns and visual effects.
The project also includes experimentation with both natural dyes and coloured dyes, allowing a comparison of colour depth, tone, and finish. The outcome highlights material exploration, craftsmanship, and the expressive potential of tie and dye in contemporary textile design.
